An Opera in Three Acts
Music by Pietro Mascagni

Miami Lyric Opera presents L'Amico Fritz - the story in a small Jewish community located in Alsace by the end of 19th century. Mascagni chose a French comedy by Emile Erckmann and Alexandre Chatrian, L'Ami Fritz, adapted for the stage in 1872. It was further transformed into a libretto by P. Suardon (an anagram for the famous writer, N.Daspuro), who maintained the fundamental ingredients of the original: Fritz Kobus, a wealthy, confirmed bachelor, lives on his estate in Alsace. The Rabbi David a persistent matchmaker is determined to get Fritz to marry. He bets that one day he will also marry Fritz.  Affirming that he will never get married, Fritz bets with David offering his vineyard that it would never happen. Finally through David's plotting, Fritz falls in love with Suzel, the daughter of his steward, and asks her to marry him.

The opera is well remembered by its beautiful Cherry’s Duet between Suzel and Fritz and the unforgettable “Intermezzo” (Musical Interlude) among other beautiful musical moments.

08/16/2014 La Bohème: Miami Lyric Opera La Bohème: Miami Lyric Opera

An Opera in Four Acts
Composed by Giacomo Puccini

Miami Lyric Opera presents La Bohème. In their Latin Quarter garret of Paris in 19th Century, the painter Marcello and poet Rodolfo try to keep warm by burning pages from Rodolfo's latest drama. They are joined by their comrades — Colline, a young philosopher, and Schaunard, a musician who has landed a job and brings food, fuel and funds. They find a way not to pay the rent and with the saving they rushed to celebrate Christmas evening at Café Momus. Rodolfo the poet remains at home for few moments promising to soon join them. It all begins with Mimi’s gentle voice at the door. Might she have a light for her candle? And that one small light ignites opera’s most touching and poignant love story.

From the moment Rodolfo stares into her eyes and Puccini’s violins slowly rise from the quiet, an extraordinary journey begins.

One of the most romantic operas ever composed!
Soaring, lyrical, and intensely emotional were love and poverty evolves to a sad end. There the drama and the music of Puccini fusions in one of his most powerful romantic drama staged.
